Hi, I'm a former APS student an Alum of Kenmore High (1996) I went on to graduate college and get a great Job. I'm working and living in the DC area. There were some life changing events in my life in the impressionable HS years my success in the years following I attribute in part to my High School Science Teacher Mr. Ray Crawford he never doubted my ability to understand complicated things, he made me strive for excellence if only to prove him right. I'm looking to tell him what a difference he made in my life but I can't seem to find any contact info, is there a site I'm missing where you can pay compliments to teachers past and I'm missing it? I saw you memory page but I think it would be moral building if you added a link that allowed for teacher & staff praise that if their name was mentioned a copy was sent to them @ whatever contact info you have for them. I'd really like to get in touch with Mr Crawford has he retired? Do you Have an email address or Telephone number for Him to which you could forward him my info? Cordially, Jennifer Goin Class of '96

Thanks for your e-mail about your teacher. According to our records, we have a listing for a Mr. Richard Crawford, high school science teacher at Kenmore in 1996. He retired from APS in 2001. Because of state law, we are not at liberty to give out his address or phone number. We do have an Alumni Connect link on our Web site. Perhaps you could check it and correspond with a former classmate(s) who might have more information on Mr. Crawford. Our Web site is akronschools.com. Scroll about half-way down on the page, and on the right you’ll see Alumni Connect. Then select Kenmore, and it will take you to all the alumni (by graduation year) who have signed up on this site. Good luck!

We have, however, published your comments on our blog and will consider your excellent idea to create an area for alumni to talk about their favorite teachers. Thanks for contacting us.

Hello, my co-worker's children attend school in Cuyahoga Falls. I've noticed they have an website which the parents are able to monitor their kids everyday test grades and homework assignments. Will APS provide that service for our children?

Yes, the district plans to implement an online system to monitor grades and homework; but it will take some time to convert our data system. We hope to have it up and running in school year 2010-11.

Meanwhile, many teachers are using online programs. Talk to your school or teacher and see if they would be interested in using one of the programs available online.

There are other online tools which could be used to strengthen interest in learning for our kids. I know they use them in Copley, Revere, and other areas.

Plus, I find it sad that this blog had not been updated with new posts since last October. Is there a way I could get involved to make sure this excellent communication tool does not fall to the wayside?
